Situated in the quaint spa town of Moffat which is the beating heart and hub of the beautiful Scottish Lowlands, the Hotel offers fast free Wi-Fi and all the modern conveniences expected of a small Country Hotel that punches way above its weight.

Moffat is in a perfect position geographically – only a few minutes from the M74 motorway, 55 miles from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, 21 miles to Dumfries and only 40 miles from Carlisle and the border with England. It has managed to retain a lot of its Auld World charm retaining its rich heritage. Moffat is the epicentre of a beautiful quiet, unexplored region surrounded by rolling hills, valleys, lochs, and wide open spaces with magnificent scenery.

Every room at the Buccleuch hotel is en suite (with one small –by choice-exception) and all enjoy a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and USB charging ports. A multi-purpose TV Lounge/Ops Room/Meeting Room is available along with excellent map and route planning assistance facilities and experienced advice.

Quality food, both comfort and sometimes quirky, but definitely with our very own stamp and assured quality is available whilst the breakfasts are truly exceptional.

The Hotel is simply brilliantly positioned, not only as a stopover from North to South and vice versa, but as the perfect base to spend a few days in the area to explore this amazing and beautiful part of Scotland.

The Buccleuch Hotel offers huge resources and knowledge in Motorcycle Tourism, Walking Routes, Cycling, Eagle Trails and Star Gazing. The Hotel is simply passionate about making your stay enjoyable.

So what makes us so Biker Friendly?

From drying facilities for leathers to a safe lock up for your bike we are keen to ensure your stay is enjoyable and relaxing. We are passionate about providing great service to our motor bike guests as well as believing we have some of the best routes in Scotland.

How fortunate that Dave, Clint, Polly and Jonesy (Proprietor and Directors of the Buccleauch hotel and restaurant) are passionate bikers themselves. This has given us the enthusiasm and understanding to take the greatest care and attention to detail to ensure that your biking experience in Moffat is relaxing and comfortable.

At The Buccleuch Hotel, not only can we provide secure off street parking but we also have a limited number of motorcycle garages at the back of the hotel (all individually lockable). They have been purposely designed for motorcycles with ample shelf and hanging facilities for your kit.

To be honest, Moffat is probably one of the safest places you can be but we know how much you love your pride and joy and at least it will be cosy, warm and dry! It also means you wouldn’t have to lug all your gear to your rooms, only what you need. All the hard standing area is hidden to the rear of the hotel in a walled garden and secured overnight by a locked gate (All covered by CCTV).

The Buccleuch Hotel garages can be booked via our website or direct at a nominal £5 per day if you are a resident to the hotel. For non-residents the charge is £10 per night.

Our hardstanding area is free of charge to residents of the hotel. Both good and sad depending on how you look at it but we are often fully booked a year in advance meaning many returning guests simply can’t get booked in and end up staying elsewhere in the town. In this case, if we have the space available, non residents may be able to park their bikes on our secure hardstanding area for £5 per bike per night. However this can’t be booked in advance and you would need to check with us later on the day.
